Birmingham City Council leader Mike Whitby will unveil the city’s development and investment strategy in his keynote speech at MIPIM tomorrow morning.
Birmingham’s ‘Decade of Delivery’ launch will take place at 11am on its stand tomorrow. The city plans to lure investors to the region by announcing the following:
Three new ‘legacy sites’ providing major development opportunities over the next decade
Plans for a new £40m ICT village at Birmingham Science Park in Aston
A new university campus for University College Birmingham to be built on four acres adjoining the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter
Site owner East End Foods is to announce plans for a “landmark hotel” and further warehousing on the HP Sauce site
Hilton Hotel Group will confirm it wants two more sites in Birmingham
Encourage the High Speed 2 rail line for the city which will drastically reduce travelling times from London to Birmingham to 49 minutes by 2018
Open up freight lines across Birmingham to passenger trains, creating "new" cross city transportation by 2018
Birmingham International Airport's long awaited runway extension project gets funding
ASDA is to spend £100m in Birmingham over the next 10 years, creating 2,000 jobs.
