First images of Shard viewing galleries unveiled

LBQ – the Qatari & UK consortium behind the Shard at London Bridge Quarter – has released the first images of the 800ft-high viewing gallery near the top of the tower.

The images demonstrate the view that will greet visitors to the viewing platforms when the Shard opens in 2012.

Developer Sellar Property Group’s plans for a vertical ‘City in the Sky’ will house a mix of offices, flats, a hotel and restaurants, and will be the tallest building in Western Europe at 1,016ft, with 100 floors.

The viewing galleries will spread over three floors (levels 68, 69 and 72) and offer a vantage point at almost twice the height of the London Eye.

James Sellar, chief executive of Sellar Property Group, said: “The Shard is set to become one of the most significant additions to the London skyline in decades.

“From the outset, it has always been my aim to ensure that this wonderful building is open to the public, so that they get to experience the wonder of the Shard at first hand.”
