Mayor 'must tackle airport capacity'
MIPIM 2012: The next mayor of London must address airport capacity to make the capital an even stronger target for future investors, the City of London Corporation has said.
Stuart Fraser, chairman of policy and resources at the corporation, warned during a speech at MIPIM that lack of airport capacity was the "biggest threat" to the capital's growth.
"If you build a Boris airport or something 25 miles away, you then need to introduce the infrastructure to make it work. I would ask the new mayor to support the expansion of existing airports." He said that this would make London an "even stronger target' for real estate investors.
Fraser also praised hotel investment in the capital, referring to more than 3,000 hotel beds opened in the Square Mile, and 1,200 which are in the pipeline.
