Brantano goes into administration

Closed-THUMB.jpegFootwear retailer Brantano has gone into administration.

The shoe retailer is owned by private equity firm Alteri, and has 140 shops and 160 concessions in the UK.

It has appointed PwC as administrators, who said it will try to keep the shops open during the selling process.

Tony Barrell, lead administrator at PwC, said: “The continuing challenging conditions for ‘bricks and mortar’ retail stores are well documented. Like many others, Brantano has been hit hard by the change in consumers’ shopping habits and the evolution of the UK retail environment.”
