The property and construction sector raised more than £100,000 for Action Medical Research in its inaugural Ziggurat cycling challenge.
Fifty riders took part in the 275-mile ride from Coulsdon in Surrey to Paris last month.
The event, which coincided with the charity’s annual London to Paris event, saw the two rides both finish in the French capital on the final day of the 2017 Tour de France.
The money raised will help fund research into premature birth, meningitis, Down syndrome and epilepsy.
Patron pair climb for Teaching Trust
Patron Capital managing director Keith Breslauer and his daughter Samantha have spent a week scaling Utah’s desert peaks in aid of the Prince’s Teaching Trust. The pair’s efforts raised more than £15,000 for the charity, which provides support and training for teachers in the UK. Peaks climbed included Castleton Tower, the Fisher Towers and Wall Street.
Cameron’s Outlaw success
Cushman & Wakefield’s Cameron Thomson has raised £1,900 for Birmingham-based neurological charity NICE. The senior surveyor took on the gruelling Nottingham Outlaw Triathlon to raise funds for the charity, which works to improve the lives of individuals with neurological disorders. Thomson completed the challenge – which comprised a 2.4-mile swim, 112 miles of cycling and a 26.2-mile run – in 14 hours and 40 minutes.
Chestertons tees off
Chestertons’ annual Charity Golf Day has raised over £3,000 for charity. More than 40 players attended the event at Malden Golf Club in Surrey last month in aid of homelessness charity St Mungo’s.
CBRE on form at Property Tri North
CBRE staff from offices in Manchester, Leeds and London were among hundreds of property people who competed in the JLL Property Triathlon North at MediaCityUK. Graham Burrell, head of capital allowances at the London office, was the first of the 22-man team to finish, in 1hr 13 minutes, taking seventh place overall.
Hunts ride to Paris
Steven Hunt from Steven A Hunt & Associates and his son Joe have raised nearly £2,000 for the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust by cycling 280 miles from London to Paris. The charity is raising funds for the latest equipment for diagnoses and treatments to support patients in Liverpool and the surrounding areas.
Stick your oar in
Property law firm Insight Law aims to paddle to victory at this year’s 2017 Monmouth Raft Race on 3 September. The team, named Insight Oar, will compete in building a raft that will be rowed six miles down the River Wye from Monmouth to Whitebrook. All funds raised by the event will go to St David’s Hospice Care, Newport.
