Raymond and Thomas Kwok, the billionaire brothers who run Hong Kong’s largest property developer, have professed their innocence in the face of bribery allegations.
Reading out a prepared statement at Sun Hung Kai Properties’ HQ in Wan Chai, Raymond said: “I want to confirm to everyone that I myself haven’t done anything wrong and I believe Thomas Kwok hasn’t done anything wrong either. I expect the investigation will prove we are innocent.”
Thomas Kwok said it would be “business as usual” at Sun Hung Kai.
The pair were arrested last Thursday by the Independent Commission Against Corruption for alleged bribery. Ex-government official and Sun Hung Kai adviser Rafael Hui was also arrested.
No charges have been brought.
The Kwok family is one of Asia’s richest, with a net worth of $18.3bn (£11.4bn), according to Forbes.
