Jonathan Best: Equity Partner, Montagu Evans

Jonathan is an Equity Partner in Montagu Evans’s 70+ Planning Department, and Lead for the Industrial Sector. Prior to joining Montagu Evans in 2015 he was co-founder and Director of Blue Sky Planning, a dedicated planning consultancy formed in 2002. Jonathan has almost 30 years planning experience of planning consultancy, principally focusing on commercial development across the UK, including industrial and retail, along with mixed use development. Jonathan works closely with investment and agency colleagues to provide commercially aware advice to a range of owners, developers and investors. He leads external consultants to  provide and implement strategies for the acquisition and development of sites within and beyond London.

David Binks: Head of Leasing, St Modwen

David has been with St Modwen since June 2018, and is in charge of co-ordinating our leasing activities and building our customer relationships on a national basis. Prior to this David was Head of Logistics & Industrial Agency at global property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield. With 30 years’ experience in the logistics & industrial sector. A member of the RICS David expertise is customer targeting, property marketing and leasing.

Paul Burke: Partner, Maples Teesdale LLP

Paul Burke heads up the Maples Teesdale Corporate team. Paul is a specialist in portfolio acquisitions or disposals through group company structures often involving multiple jurisdictions; joint ventures including all forms of joint venture vehicles from private companies to all types of partnerships, LLPs and unit trusts and other unincorporated associations; SPV sales and purchases (for example to effect SDLT mitigation schemes); Jersey Property Unit Trusts (JPUTs); sale and leaseback structures; property and asset management agreements and shareholder disputes.

John Clements: European Development Director, Verdion

John specialises in development, investment, finance and funding in the warehouse and logistics sector. He has been with Verdion since it was founded, including six years in Vienna following which he has been based in London for the last four years. John is responsible for managing existing development projects, as well as sourcing and structuring new development and investment opportunities throughout Europe. He oversees all the commercial activities at iPort, Verdion’s UK flagship project in Doncaster, a central part of which is the strategic rail freight terminal iPort Rail which opened earlier this year. He also leads on a number of Verdion’s projects across Europe, including Verdion iPark Copenhagen where DHL has taken a specialist built-to-suit warehouse to fulfil its contract with a major global pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Darryl Chen: Partner, Hawkins\​Brown

Darryl is a partner at Hawkins\Brown and leads the urban design and research studio, delivering masterplans for brownfield sites, campuses, science parks, housing estates and districts. Darryl has both a client-facing role developing new business and a hands-on design role translating complex briefs into practical design solutions. He champions innovation within the practice under the auspices of the &\also thinktank, a research vehicle that informs project briefs, explores new markets and speculates on future directions for architecture and urbanism.

James Child: Retail & Industrial Analyst, EG

Retail & Industrial Analyst at EG with over seven years of experience in UK commercial property market analysis. Regular commentator for the BBC, ITV, Evening Standard and The Times and presenter / panellist at sector specific events such as EG Summits, REVO, Completely Retail and MIPIM UK. Specialising in the analysis of occupier, planning, investment and development trends in the retail and industrial real estate sector. Also investigating consumer trends, providing detailed data analysis, content and commentary for the EG magazine and online platform. Recently James has worked closely with the Ministry of Housing Communities & Local Government and the Future High Streets Fund, supplying critical intel and analysis on Local Authority Investment and the planning sector. James was also a main contributor to the Grimsey Review 2 which focused on recommendations for government on how to secure the future of the UK’s high streets, whilst analysing the magnitude of the “year of the CVA” and the effects of multiple administrations and store closures on the wider property market.

Iain Cox: Chair of the Business Sprinkler Alliance

Although retired Iain is still active in the fire safety sector, working in various bodies and committees to promote fire safety in general, especially promoting third party certification and the greater use of sprinklers. He is Vice Chair of the National Fire Sprinkler Network and leads the Sprinkler Water Liaison Group. Iain served in Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service for 34 years, appointed Chief Fire Officer in 2003 he was awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal in 2009 and retired in 2013. He served as the Chief Fire Officers Association’s Director for Protection and Prevention between 2009 and 2011. Iain is currently the Chair of the Business Sprinkler Alliance and is a board member of BAFE. Iain holds a BSc from Reading University and an MA in Management from Coventry University.

Tim Cutts: Senior Regeneration Manager, Southwark Council

Tim Cutts is a chartered town planner working in London. He has been responsible for managing major planning applications as well as leading on the delivery of strategic planning frameworks in Southwark, including plans for Elephant and Castle, Canada Water and the Aylesbury Estate. He is currently a senior regeneration manager at Southwark council, where he is leading on a number of projects associated with the Old Kent Road opportunity area including the preparation of masterplans, coordination of infrastructure development and regeneration of the council’s own landholdings.

Cameron Fraser : Director, Marchmont Investment Management

Cameron joined Marchmont in 2016. He is responsible for Fund Management and strategic product development. He started his career with ING (NZ) Ltd. in 2001 before moving to the UK in 2003 joining CBRE and later CBRE Global Investors. Following this he was a Director of Property at TH Real Estate and Head of Balanced Funds in the UK property team. Prior to joining Marchmont, Cameron was an Associate Partner at Brockton Capital responsible for the origination of opportunistic projects in the UK.

Chen Ikeogu: Partner, Maples Teesdale LLP

Chen Ikeogu is a partner in the Maples Teesdale Real Estate Finance team. Chen advises banks, other financial institutions, funds, family offices and borrowers involved in funding the acquisition, investment or development of property. Key sectors include Student Accommodation, Mixed-use and Residential Development, PRS and Hotels. Chen was ranked by Legal 500 for Real Estate Finance in 2017.

Chris Jeffs: Investment Manager,M&G Real Estate

Chris leads the Industrial and Logistics sector team at M&G Real Estate. He has responsibility for sourcing and executing transactions and the strategic management of a portfolio of over £3.5 billion of Industrial and Logistics real estate, leading the acquisition of over £500m worth of assets for M&G Real Estate’s clients in the last 12 months alone.

Prior to joining the industrial team, Chris was an investment manager in M&G’s retail investment team, giving him a unique insight into the structural changes occurring across both sectors. He has an MSc in Property Development from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, is a member of RICS, the IPF and is a qualified Law of Property Act (LPA) Receiver.

Dave Lawrence: Partner, CAG Consultants

Dave Lawrence is an economist and Partner of CAG Consultants. He has a long track record of developing economic and employment guidance for major strategic studies. He regularly undertakes work for the GLA and TfL to inform the Mayor’s London Plan, including the London Industrial Land Demand Study; London Office Policy Review and employment forecasts to inform the Mayor’s Transport Strategy. Dave has practical knowledge and experience of a range of UK local economies and business sectors.

Melissa Meyer: Associate, We Made That

Melissa is an Associate at We Made That and leads key urban research studies for public and third sector organisations. At We Made That she has undertaken in-depth studies of places of work and industrial locations, wide-ranging cultural audits and innovative research relating to the social value of places.
Key publications include High Streets for All – an extensive study of the social value of London’s high streets – for the Mayor of London, London’s Industrial Land Supply & Economy Study and a number of granular mapping studies across the sectors of London's cultural and creative supply chains. Prior to joining We Made That she worked for The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community and coordinator for Future London, an independent non-profit organisation committed to building a democracy around the future of cities.

Ben Nowlan: Chief Revenue Officer, On the dot

Ben is responsible for the commercial success of On the dot; bringing the sales, marketing and product together to match market need and maximise company growth. Prior to On the dot, Ben has held senior roles in multi-national companies such as Groupon and Corporate Executive Broad (CEB) as well as founding a series of technology businesses. Most recently Ben was the founder and CEO of Sherpa, a pioneer in last mile technology delivery services.

Philip O’Callaghan: Managing Director UK & Ireland, MOUNTPARK PROPERTIES LIMITED

Philip started his career at the Cadogan Estate before moving into agency at Matthews & Goodman.  In 2001 he joined Kingspark, since when he has specialised in commercial property development.  He was a founding director of Parkridge and more recently of Mountpark, where he is responsible for the company’s operations in the UK and Ireland.

Gareth Osborn: Business Unit Director Thames Valley and National Logistics, SEGRO plc

Gareth Osborn is Business Unit Director for Thames Valley + National Logistics, with responsibility for a UK portfolio of  over £2.0bn.  This includes the hugely successful Slough Trading Estate, established over 90 years ago and home to leading UK and international companies.  The portfolio also includes sites in Reading and Bracknell. The logistics portfolio is a significant growth sector for SEGRO and they have grown their presence in this sector through acquisition of land and an investment portfolio that has grown to £800m plus.  The link up with the specialist logistics developers Roxhill in 2016 has expanded their access to an excessive development pipeline. Gareth is also Chairman of the British Property Federation Industrial Committee.

Key examples being a landmark study into the real estate implications of the growing waste management and recycling industry and the landmark Warehouse of the Future Report. Kevin regularly presents at industry events and has appeared at The Estates Gazette European Distribution Summit, the Retail Week Supply Chain Summit, Warehousing Futures and other events for the IPF, IPD and the CPD Foundation. Kevin is a member of Industrial Agents Society, CILT, IPF and Past Chair of the Society of Property Researchers.

Martin Meech: Group Property Director,Travis Perkins Group Plc; CEO, Travis Perkins Properties Ltd

Martin was appointed Group Property Director of Travis Perkins Plc and CEO of Travis Perkins (Properties) Ltd in 2005. Martin overseas the Group portfolio of over 2000 properties including a freehold portfolio with a market value in excess of £800m. Martin has now  been a property director for over 30 years for various businesses. Before joining Travis Perkins plc, Martin was Property Director at Dixons Group, Isosceles, Gateway and Halfords. Martin was formerly Chairman of the BRC Property Advisory Group and a member of the Bank of England Property Forum. Martin previously held a Non Executive Director role at Quintain Estates & Development Plc and is now Senior Non Executive Director of Warehouse REIT Plc. Martin has a BSc(hons) Estate Management and is also a Chartered Surveyor and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.'

Richard Moffitt: Director & CEO, Urban Logistics REIT plc

Previously an Executive Director at CBRE, where he was Head of the UK Industrial team, Richard Moffitt has over 25 years’ experience of the UK Industrial and Logistics markets. He has an in-depth understanding of the market’s dynamics, credibility with owners and operators of real estate assets, a thorough understanding of owner and tenant requirements and an extensive network, which includes institutional funds. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Charlie Pool: CEO, Stowga

Charlie Pool is Founder and CEO of Stowga, the B2B warehousing marketplace that connects warehouses with spare capacity to businesses looking to take space on demand. Stowga was founded in 2016 and has grown rapidly to support warehouses all over the world and clients include corporates such as BT, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever and Asda who use Stowga to help optimise their supply chains. Prior to starting Stowga, Charlie was an advisor for Delin Capital, an asset management firm that made investments in technology companies. Early in his career he was at Cazenove and then JPMorgan strategic investments.


Tom Roche: Assistant Vice President & Senior Consultant within the International Codes and Standards Group: FM Global

Tom served in a variety of engineering and engineering management roles across the UK. He has travelled extensively to support clients across the world to establish loss prevention policies and implement risk strategies all aimed at improving the resilience of their businesses to property risks. This has ranged from large projects for new facilities to adapting existing facilities and processes. He joined FM Global in 1993 as a field engineer based in the Manchester Office. Tom works extensively within the field of loss prevention. He is the current Secretary of the Business Sprinkler Alliance, an organisation that promotes the use of automatic sprinklers in Industrial and Commercial premises. He is also the current chair of the Built Environment Issues and Affairs workstream within the Fire Sector Federation. Through this role he promotes work to study, review and change of regulations that impact fire within the wider Built Environment. Tom holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical and electronics engineering from Lancaster University.

Ben Taylor: Director, Barton Willmore

Ben is a Director at Planning and Design consultancy Barton Willmore with over 10 years’ experience in leading on complex commercial projects focussed in The Midlands, Thames Valley and South East.
