Court of Appeal rules in Great Dunmow Estates arbitration case

An expert appointed in a property valuation dispute did not have the jurisdiction to alter the valuation date, the Court of Appeal found this week. The case, Great Dunmow Estates Ltd v Crest Nicholson Operations Ltd and another [2019] EWCA Civ 1683; [2019] PLSCS 198, is a dispute in which the parties to a land sale agreement could not agree on the value for the sale and sought to avoid a dispute by appointing an independent expert to work it out.
