Developer blocks referendum in possible legal first

In what may be a legal first, a developer has won a High Court injunction preventing a local council from holding a referendum on a neighbourhood plan. Developer Lochailort Investments was given the court order yesterday. It stops Mendip District Council from holding a referendum on the plan for Norton St Philip Parish Council. The developer is in dispute with the council over the designation of local green space in the neighbourhood plan, which it argues doesn’t meet basic statutory conditions.
