Gladman refused permission for 225-home Medway development

Developer Gladman Development has failed in its bid to obtain planning permission for a 225-home development in the Medway village of Cliffs Woods in Kent. The controversial development was met with hundreds of objections when the developer first sought planning permission in 2017. Locals objected that it would ruin the village environment, destroy countryside and put extra pressure on local services. Medway Council rejected the plans, and Gladman appealed. Following a planning inquiry, a planning inspector recommended allowing the development. However, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government refused.
