Working from home has become less effective as the lockdowns have worn on, bank bosses have claimed.
Barclays boss Jes Staley told a virtual meeting of the World Economic Forum yesterday: “I don’t think it’s sustainable. It will increasingly be a challenge to maintain the culture and collaboration that these large financial institutions seek to have and should have.”
Wealth and asset manager at JP Morgan Chase, Mary Erdoes, was more blunt: “It is fraying. It is hard.”
Staley predicted that more people would come back to offices to work, but with flexibility to work from home.
