BL City tower recommended for approval

2-3-Finsbury-Avenue-Sq-EC2-570-3British Land’s plans for a 32-storey tower at 2-3 Finsbury Avenue Square, EC2, have been recommended for approval by the City of London Corporation’s chief executive and town clerk.

In a report published today, John Barradell said the proposal would provide high quality and flexible spaces and contribute to the area’s retail offer.

The planning and transportation committee is due to decide whether to grant planning permission for the scheme at a meeting on 4 October.

Designed by Arup Associates, the tower would comprise 550,000 sq ft of offices across four elements, the tallest of which would rise to 32 storeys.

The proposals include a new route and double-height arcade of shops linking Finsbury Avenue Square with Sun Street and Old Street.

A public restaurant, café and roof terrace at level 14 accessed via scenic lifts from Finsbury Avenue Square and a flexible conference and event space with panoramic views across London are also included in the plans.

UBS is to move its headquarters to British Land’s recently completed 5 Broadgate, EC2.
