BL secures three signings at Whiteley

Whiteley 570

Three new retailers have signed at British Land and Universities Superannuation Scheme’s Whiteley, Hampshire.

Homeware store Tiger will be expanding by 1,000 sq ft, moving into a new 3,200 sq ft shop on a 10-year lease, ahead of the scheme’s £18m leisure extension, which is due to open at the end of this year.

Tiger’s former shop is being reconfigured to deliver two new units. Pandora will take 1,100 sq ft, while Australian stationery retailer Smiggle will open its first store in Hampshire, having agreed terms for the other 1,100 sq ft.

Both retailers have agreed 10-year leases and the stores will open in July 2015.

Specsavers has also signed for 1,650 sq ft at ground floor, with a 1,400 sq ft mezzanine, on a 15-year lease, joining Ernest Jones, which recently opened a 1,700 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease.

Asian dining concept Dim T will open its second restaurant outside London in the new leisure extension and has agreed to take 3,267 sq ft on a 15-year lease.

The new operators will join a nine-screen Cineworld cinema, Five Guys, Nando’s, PizzaExpress and Coast to Coast.

Whiteley’s second phase is now more than 90% let, with just one shop remaining.
