Brighton approves first co-living scheme

Brighton & Hove Council has approved its first co-living development with Brundell Property Group’s Melbourne Street scheme.

Councillors voted 6-2 in favour of the plans which will see 83 bedrooms and 5,500 sq ft of co-working space in the first phase.

Brundell will also look to deliver a further 57 beds in a future phase, in a scheme with an end value of £34m.

The scheme will be the first for the developer, which also has a pipeline of sites in Bath, Bristol and Guildford. It aims to acquire land for some 2,000 co-living beds in the next 12 months, to build out over the following three to four years.
