Brits lose share of millionaires

The number of Brits who can claim to be the 1% - with wealth of more than $1m - has fallen this year to 2.46m. Last year’s figure of 2.49m has been squeezed thanks to the falling pound and weakening high-end property values. According to Credit Suisse’s tenth annual Global Wealth Report, there are 46.8m dollar millionaires worldwide. For the first time ever the number of Chinese citizens in the top 10% of wealth exceeded the number of Americans, with 100m to 99m. But the US still wins for the sheer number of millionaires, with 40% of the world’s total.
