Build more, build faster – Lister opens LREF

Sir-Edward-ListerDeputy mayor of London Sir Edward Lister last night opened the third London Real Estate Forum in Berkeley Square, W1.

The two-day event, launched in 2013, features a keynote speech from housing and planning minister Brandon Lewis on Thursday.

Lister said: “The London Real Estate forum is an absolutely vital event in bringing the industry together.

“We want to give developers certainty so you can build more and build faster. We have identified 38 opportunity areas that can produce 300,000 new homes and 500,000 new jobs and we need these sooner rather than later.

“We also have 20 housing zones in London and are committed to at least a further 10. The message we are taking to government is that the industry needs more certainty to speed up delivery and we are committed to building the homes which London needs.”

LREF will showcase an exhibition of development and investment opportunities across central London, and a new model of London launched at MIPIM in March.

Prominent projects include Old Oak Common, Royal Docks, Nine Elms and King’s Cross.
