Call time on the ethnicity pay gap

Last week the Office for National Statistics released its first official figures on the ethnicity pay gap. London, which has the highest proportion of people belonging to ethnic minority groups, had the largest pay gap between white and ethnic minority groups, at 21.7%. This figure is not surprising and merely reiterates what we have known for years. Mandatory reporting has revealed that the gender pay gap currently stands at 9.6% in favour of men. ONS data also shows discrepancies between male and female earnings in ethnic groups. Many people are now calling for ethnicity pay gap reporting also to be
