Can the towns fund really save our high streets?

The Conservatives’ new Long-Term Plan for Towns, launched by prime minister Rishi Sunak earlier this month, is put to its test in a FT investigation.

The plan aims to hand out a £20m endowment to 55 towns over 10 years in a bid to help stop decades of decline across the UK’s towns.

Regional experts have warned that the new fund will struggle to make any kind of difference.
