Property tycoon Nick Candy is leading the fundraising for the Conservative candidate for mayor of London.
The One Hyde Park developer has been approaching City grandees and wealthy Londoners for donations to support Shaun Bailey, as campaigning starts before the election in May.
But it is not a disagreement over property or planning policies that has made Candy determined to oust current mayor Sadiq Khan, but crime. “If we carry on as we are with Sadiq Khan as mayor, then crime will get worse,” he said.
