C&W boss says its 33% pay gap is ‘too wide’

Women at Cushman & Wakefield are paid on average 33.4% less than men and take home a bonus that is 69.8% lower.

C&W is now the third of the major agents to file its gender pay gap report. JLL reported a gender pay gap of 36.7% (and bonus gap of 78.9%) and CBRE a pay gap of 17.35% – close to the national average of 17.3% – and bonus gap of 69.2%.

Like its peers, C&W said that the gap was largely due to a lack of women in senior roles. Women make up just 24% of those in the upper quartile of earning at the business and 54% of the lower quartile.

Head of UK & Ireland George Roberts said: “Our gender pay gap is too wide. The result of too few women in senior roles, particularly in fee-earning roles. We are challenging the way we do things to address this imbalance, which has been a persistent issue for our industry.

“We are committed to challenging our working practices, processes and perspectives to provide a culture and environment at Cushman & Wakefield that welcomes, and actively supports and encourages anyone who has the talent, desire, appetite and ambition to succeed, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or background.”

He added: “My personal commitment is to ensure that we are doing everything we now can to close the gap for the benefit of our people, our clients and our business.”
