World-renowned architect David Adjaye has promised to continue to inspire hope through design despite uncertain times.
Adjaye, who designed the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington opened by Barack Obama in September, told Estates Gazette that society will still move forward and will still learn from lessons of the past.
“We can learn lessons from the past, understand what’s good from them and translate them into design that represents a brighter future.”
He added that to do this architecture needs to be more than just beautiful. It needs to “enhance and uplifts and upgrades the quality of citizens we are”.
