David Church exits HFF

Banker David Church has left HFF a week after JLL announced that it had agreed to buy the capital markets services provider for $2bn (£1.7bn).

HFF bought Church’s advisory firm Leon Partners in 2016 to launch its office in London. He co-founded the firm alongside Raj Somchand in 2015.

Church’s previous roles include head of European real estate investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Church said: “I am confident that the merged capital markets groups of HFF and JLL will be a great success.

“We built a truly exceptional team at HFF London. I will miss them all and wish them all the best both personally and professionally.”

Since HFF set up its London office, it has advised on several significant deals, most recently the £1bn sale of four Grange hotels in London to Queensgate Investments.

JLL agreed a $2bn deal to buy HFF last week.

Upon closing of the transaction, JLL shareholders are expected to own approximately 87% of the combined company, while HFF shareholders will retain around 13%.
