A developer is being sought to convert a 32,000 sq ft (2,973 sq m) former grain warehouse that occupies a key site in the £200m Swansea waterfront redevelopment area.
The J-Shed, a Grade II listed building on a prime site overlooking Swansea’s Prince of Wales dock, has been released for sale by the Welsh Development Agency.
The two-story red-brick building, which remains largely unaltered since its construction in the 1890s, was built during the greatest era of dock expansion in South Wales.
A development brief has been prepared suggesting a variety of potential uses for the J-Shed including café/bars, restaurant and retail.
The J-Shed is one of three listed buildings on site which form an historic core for the 100-acre (40.47ha) development.
The Norwegian Church is being dismantled and will be renovated and repositioned near the J-Shed which is close to the third listed building on site, the Ice Factory, which overlooks the River Tawe.
The J-Shed sale is being handled jointly by FPDSavills and Knight Frank.
