St Helens Borough Council has signed off two multi-million-pound masterplans for Earlestown and St Helens town centres.
The plans for the Mersyside towns were drawn up by the council alongside regeneration partner English Cities Fund, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England. Planning applications are expected to be lodged in the coming months.
The first phase in St Helens town centre will be focused around a new bus station, market hall and new office space. There is also a commitment to provide homes for town centre living and open a hotel.
In Earlestown, the plans focus on key streets between the rail station and the Market Square, which itself will be redeveloped.
Leon Guyett, development director at ECF, said: “We look forward to continuing with the delivery stage of our partnership, as part of our collective commitment to delivering place-changing, sustainable regeneration that will drive direct benefits to all areas of the borough.”
