Factory-made homes are big picture for partners

One of Britain’s biggest property developers has formed a partnership with a construction company and a housing association to build £2bn of new homes over the next five years.

Stanhope, which is redeveloping the BBC’s former Television Centre in west London into luxury flats, restaurants and shops, has agreed a long-term deal Laing O’Rourke, the construction group, and Network Homes, a housing association.

In contrast with the traditional model, under which a property developer will receive planning permission for a project before hiring a construction firm and a housing association later on, the three companies will take on new projects together from the start.
