GPE has added its voice to the chorus demanding the reinstatement of VAT-free shopping.
Chief executive Toby Courtauld said that while footfall at GPE’s retail properties in the West End was improving, it was still short of pre-pandemic levels.
He added that removing trade barriers should be a priority for the government and he would “absolutely support” the reintroduction of VAT-free shopping, which was scrapped in 2021 after Brexit.
