Green light for 1,200 homes at former police training ground

Barnet Council has approved plans for 1,200 homes at Colindale Gardens on the former site of the police training centre in Hendon, north London.

Redrow Homes will deliver the flats in buildings of up to 26 storeys, in the third and final phase of the development. It comprises a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats with 35% affordable housing.

The 47-acre site was used by the Metropolitan Police for 80 years as an operational centre.

In 2013, Redrow was selected by the council as the preferred bidder to develop the site. Two years later, the council approved a masterplan to develop 2,900 homes, a primary school, nursery and health centre.

This third phase brings the total to around 4,000 homes approved for the site.
