Hair today, gone tomorrow for Supercuts

The owner of budget hairdressing chain Supercuts has called in the administrators. Regis UK, which operates 220 salons in shopping centres and on the high street, has struggled to cope with lower footfall and rising pension costs. Last year it entered a CVA with its creditors to stay afloat, but last December that was challenged by landlords including British Land and Hammerson in the appeal courts. Supercuts was thought to have asked for 100% rent cuts at 100 of its stores. Deloitte, the administrators, will keep the salons open for the time being while it explores options. The Times
