Giles Weaver, chairman of Helical Bar, is to leave the company after almost 19 years.
He has served as chairman for the past seven years.
Fellow long-serving directors Antony Beevor and Wilf Weeks will also be stepping down from their positions. They have been with the firm for 12 and seven years respectively.
Finance director Nigel McNair Scott will be promoted to non-executive chairman. Deputy finance director Tim Murphy becomes finance director.
Helical said that McNair Scott was “uniquely placed” to lead the business having been with the firm since 1985. It said that his primary role would be to “advise on the long term strategy of the group and to ensure that succession issues are planned and executed in a timely fashion”.
Weaver said: “I shall be sad to relinquish my association with such a dynamic and successful team of people after so long. However, I believe that the company, the executives and the portfolio of investment properties and developments are poised for a successful future, which should be further enhanced by a refreshed board and a new chairman.”
Two new non-executive directors will also be appointed following the group’s AGM on 24 July.
Richard Gillingwater, dean of the Cass Business School, will become a senior independent director and a member of the nominations, audit and remuneration committees. Richard Grant, finance director at the Cadogan Estate, will become chairman of the audit committee.
