HMV is set to close its flagship store at 363 Oxford Street, W1, after more than 96 years of trading.
The 20,000 sq ft shop was first opened by Sir Edward Elgar as The Gramophone Company in 1921.
HMV moved to a larger premises on Oxford Street in 1986, but returned to its original address in 2013 when the business fell into administration and was sold to Hilco capital.
Hong Kong landlord Glory Step Investments has instructed Savills to negotiate a lease surrender for the space.
