Emergency plans to erect tents in London parks to temporarily house cross-Channel migrants have been considered by Home Office officials.
The idea was raised in meetings with London councils this month, after efforts to persuade them to accommodate more asylum seekers failed.
Council leaders dismissed the plans for “tent cities” and instead urged the government to lift the ban on asylum seekers being able to get a job.
