House prices rose at their fastest pace in more than four years in November.
Almost £3,000 on average was added to the cost of a home, with Halifax reporting that values were 7.6% higher than a year earlier and 1.2% higher than in October.
Halifax MD Russell Galley said the boost would not last. “With unemployment predicted to peak around the middle of next year, and the UK’s economy not expected to fully recover the ground lost over 2020 for a number of years, a slowdown in activity is likely over the next 12 months.”
