Housebuilder Honey proposes sweet 184-home Doncaster scheme

Sheffield-based housebuilder Honey has submitted plans for a £53m development in Bessacarr, Doncaster.

The proposed development, named Opal, will deliver 184 homes on a 16-acre site located off Cammidge Way, next to Bawtry Road.

Subject to approval, Opal will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, with 17 different designs from Honey’s range of house types. Forty-three of the homes will be affordable.

The planned site in Bessacarr will be incorporated into the Doncaster local plan, which mandates the construction of 15,640 new homes by 2035.

If approved, Honey plans to start construction in May next year, with completion expected from spring 2026.

Honey chief executive Mark Mitchell said: “Bessacarr is a fantastic location for us to build. Our extensive market research has discovered there is significant demand for high-specification, high-quality homes in and around the local area.

“Our proposed development will satisfy this demand with properties that are thoughtfully designed to combine style, substance and sustainability for the benefit of our buyers and the local community.”
