Law firm Maples Teesdale is hunting for a new London headquarters, zeroing in on several potential sites around Cheapside in the Square Mile.
The firm rents around 10,600 sq ft across the fourth and fifth floors of Chevalier’s 30 King Street, EC2, on a lease that expires next summer, although it is able to stay beyond the end of that contract.
Any new office would be a slight downsize, likely to 8,000-9,000 sq ft, and is aimed at bringing all the firm’s staff together on one floor rather than two.
Managing partner Paul Burke told EG the firm is expecting to move during the second half of 2025.
The team has viewed several offices already with a goal of putting a shortlist together before the end of this year.
Maples Teesdale specialises in real estate work, employing some 63 people across fee-earners and administrative staff, according to its website.
Law firms have been an active sector for London office deals over the past year. Other sealed and impending lettings include Reynolds Porter Chamberlain closing in on a lease at Aviva Investors’ 101 Moorgate, EC2; A&O Shearman signing for British Land and GIC’s 1 Broadgate, EC2; and Debevoise & Plimpton taking space at the Daily Mail’s former headquarters at the Northcliffe on Tudor Street, EC4.
