The Everyman Media cinema chain is at the centre of bid speculation after the owner of River Island lifted its stake to 28.3%.
The stake is not far short of the 30% level at which an automatic bid would be triggered.
On Wednesday, the Lewis family’s Blue Coast Capital vehicle bought 250,000 shares at 60p a share, then yesterday it bought a further 3.75m shares at 56p, bringing the total outlay over the two days to £2.25m.
Everyman has 46 cinemas across the UK.
