LHG (London Hotel Group) has received planning approval to turn a previously consented residential scheme into a £40m 221-room aparthotel in Tooting High Street, SW17.
The 40,000sq ft four star hotel designed by Dexter Moren Associates will be built on the 0.5 acre site of the former Tooting Constitutional Club. It will include a restaurant and outdoor public green space.
A new community club house will also be built with a 6,803 sq ft landscaped courtyard and children’s play area, plus a 958 sq ft café.
The scheme is expected to start on site in August with a provisional completion date of July 2020 and opening targeted for August the same year.
LHG director Christian Desira said: “Our development responds to the needs of the local community by creating a purpose-built community hub, as well as meeting a currently unfulfilled need for hotel accommodation for visitors in and around the Tooting area.
“The aparthotel will be operated by a well-known international hotel brand, and will achieve a four-star rating.”
LHG acquired the site in August 2017 for around £10m, with an existing planning consent for 45 residential units.
GVA acted as planning consultant for LHG.
