Liverpool plans 1,500-home eco-village

Liverpool City Council has outlined plans for 1,500 eco-friendly homes at the Mersey waterfront development. The council is working with IMGF Developments, a joint venture between ION Developments and Midia, to redevelop the former site of the International Garden Festival. IMGF will masterplan the “green community” with a goal to submit a planning application in summer 2020 and delivering the first homes in 2022. Development of the 28-acre riverside site is backed by a £9.9m grant from Homes England for initial site works. The council will apply to Liverpool City Region Combined Authority for further finance for remediation and infrastructure.
