London estate regeneration to reduce social rented houses

The planned regeneration of various London council estates will result in the loss of more than 7,000 social rented houses, according to data from the Greater London Authority and supplied to London Assembly member Darren Johnson.

The data show that a net 7,326 social rented homes and a further 1,389 affordable homes will be lost as a result of regeneration schemes that already have planning permission.

Estate regeneration schemes that are already underway will, however, add a net 31,703 homes for sale or rent at market rates, and a net 5,314 intermediate homes –
