Manchester City Council has approved plans for Manchester Metropolitan University’s £35m School of Digital Arts.

The five-storey 60,000 sq ft building on Higher Chatham Street, near the university's Oxford Road campus, will contain open workspaces, a digital innovation lab and studio spaces.

SODA will house subjects including film, animation, photography and games design. The university will work closely with major industry players in the city, including ITV and the BBC.

Alongside the building, new public realm and the pedestrianisation of Higher Chatham Street are planned.
