Manchester is to get its first city-centre park in 100 years.
The new 6.5-acre Mayfield Park is part of LCR and U+I’s £1.4bn regeneration of the River Medlock between Piccadilly station and Mancunian Way.
The government has pledged £23m from its £900m Getting Building fund. It has also committed funds to a “pocket park” in Sheffield and a city-centre park in Leeds.
The Manchester project include 1,500 homes, offices, a hotel, retail and leisure space, roads, cycleways and walkways.
