McKinsey takes Post prelet

McKinsey has committed to a prelet at Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital’s the Post Building in Holborn, WC1, for its new London headquarters.

The global management consultant has an option to take up to 130,000 sq ft at the former Royal Mail Sorting Office, which is being developed into a 320,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme.

The office comprises around 270,000 sq ft of offices with one-acre floorplates, private roof terraces to every floor, a 7,000 sq ft rooftop garden and 47 cycle spaces.

The prelet ahead of the building’s scheduled completion in summer 2018, is the first commitment by a major occupier to the Post Building.

McKinsey has offices in 140 locations in 62 countries worldwide.

Vivian Hunt, managing partner for UK and Ireland at McKinsey & Company, said: “This is represents a renewed commitment to London and the UK, and the Post Building gives us the flexible and modern office space.”

Paul Brundage, executive vice president and senior managing director, Europe at Oxford Properties said: “McKinsey’s move signifies confidence in London’s status as an international gateway, as well as the increased importance of Crossrail-connected, creative hubs.”

David Marks, co-managing partner at Brockton Capital, said: “Following the prelet to McKinsey, around 140,000 sq ft of office space remains available at The Post Building.”

CBRE and Olswang advised McKinsey; Nabarro advised Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital.

JLL, Pilcher Hershman and CBRE are joint leasing agents for the offices; CBRE and Davis Coffer Lyons are joint leasing agents for the retail and restaurants.
