A millionaire motivational speaker has been told to pay more than £800,000 after an 18-inch land-grab.
Alex MacPhail was sued by Tom Gueterbock and his wife, Helen, who accused him of a “land grab” when his house was built with a cellar room extending under the boundary separating their properties.
The dispute triggered a court battle which resulted in McPhail paying his neighbours £530,000 to cover damages and legal costs, and his own legal bill was about £283,000.
McPhail lost a claim that his builders or insurer should pay up after the original verdict was upheld on appeal.
