MEPC’s tech box scheme approved

MEPC has secured consent for the development of Nebula at Milton Park, Oxfordshire.

The tech box scheme will comprise 80,000 sq ft of space, designed for technology, life sciences and engineering companies. It will feature seven new research and development workspaces ranging from 6,000 sq ft up to a single building of 30,000 sq ft.

Chris Kimber-Nickelson, development director at MEPC Milton Park, said: “At Milton Park we’re always exploring innovative ways to develop premises for our occupiers, creating spaces that accommodate a range of requirements.”

Construction of the Nebula scheme is expected to begin shortly. The developers are looking to use sustainably sourced materials, including laminated timber beams in place of steel, to reduce embodied carbon.

The plans feature vaulted ceilings to accommodate sci and tech firms using large-scale lab equipment, complete with large access doors and full-height glazing. The front of each property will feature a reception and office space.

The development is aiming for BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A rating.
