AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets is bringing in Justin Travlos from one of Australia’s largest diversified property companies, Stockland, to be its new UK head of asset management, replacing Dorrien Thomas, who is to retire.
Travlos was regional development manager for commercial property in New South Wales in Australia, where he led a team responsible for a pipeline of more than A$1.3bn.
He led a number of the firm’s largest development projects, including most recently the A$230m reconfiguration and redevelopment of the Stockland Wetherill Park shopping mall in Sydney.
Thomas will have spent almost 30 years at AXA IM – Real Assets when he retires at the end of the year, having joined in 1989 as an investment surveyor.
Andrew Stainer, global head of asset management and development at AXA IM – Real Assets, said: “The UK is one of our largest and most important markets. It accounts for around 9% of our assets under management and is home to some of our most significant and high-profile investments. We are delighted to welcome someone of Justin’s calibre and international experience to the firm.”
“I am joined by all of my colleagues on the management board in congratulating Dorrien for his remarkable contribution to the firm over the past almost 30 years. His impact has been felt not just in terms of commercial success, but also through his contribution to the development of our strong culture and the training he has provided to so many young professionals over the years. His has truly been a career to be proud of.”
