Patience pays off as Big Yellow finally gets Camden consent

Big Yellow has finally got consent for a new storage facility in Kentish Town, NW5.

The firm has got the nod from the London Borough of Camden to build a 68,400 sq ft facility. Construction is expected to start in the early part of next year, with completion in 2026.

Big Yellow first announced plans for the scheme in 2021. It bought the 0.9-acre site on Regis Road earlier that year for £16.5m.

Chief executive Jon Gibson said getting planning in central London was “formidably difficult”.

“This will be the first purpose-built self storage centre in the London Borough of Camden which has a population of approximately 220,000,” said Gibson.

“Acquiring sites and securing planning in densely populated inner London is formidably difficult and so it is pleasing to have succeeded.”
