Plans have been submitted to transform the former Radford Boulevard Board School in Nottingham into high-quality purpose-built student accommodation.
The project is a joint venture between residential developer Bmor, BTR developer-landlord BITG and Sam Burt, who is responsible for the development of a number of sites across the city.
Located on the junction of Ilkeston Road and Lenton Boulevard, the 19th century structure has been vacant for several years and has fallen into disrepair. The scheme, designed by architectural practice Leonard Design, will see more recent 20th century buildings demolished and replaced with new structures more in keeping with the original style.
The plans propose 158 student beds distributed across three buildings, along with communal facilities, a reception office and a shared courtyard garden.
James O’Brien, head of planning at Bmor, described the site as one of Nottingham’s landmark buildings, adding: “With more than 65,000 students in the city, we want to offer purpose-built housing that is top-quality and provides a secure environment from which to study, as well as freeing up the suburbs for growing families.”
