Town Centre Securities has submitted a planning application for a 17-storey office and retail building at its redevelopment of Leeds’s Merrion Centre.
Known as 100MC, the development will include 10,000 sq ft of ground floor retail space and 168,810 sq ft of office space.
It is part of TCS’s phased redevelopment and refurbishment of the mixed-use Merrion Centre. The developer has so far invested £70m into the site over the past decade, delivering Merrion House – a 170,000 sq ft office development – an ibis Styles Hotel and a 1,100-space CitiPark carpark.
The new building will sit above the Home Bargains store at the central square and will include a welcome hub, co-working offices and a new head office for StepChange Debt Charity.
Edward Ziff, chairman and chief executive of TCS, said: “We firmly believe we are on the right track with Merrion and will continue to invest in and develop the asset, broadening our offer and delivering more for Leeds from this important mixed-use city centre destination.
“We are keen to communicate our unique history, achievements and transformation of the ultimate sustainable centre, nationally and internationally, and we are excited by this next phase.”
