The amount raised by private real estate funds globally fell by 13% in 2017, according to research from Preqin. It said 263 private real estate funds closed during the year, raising $109bn, down from the $126bn raised in 2016. While this does not match totals seen in previous years, it is the fifth consecutive year in which capital totals have exceeded $100bn. The 2017 Preqin Private Capital Fundraising Update looks at fundraising activity for the year across the industry as a whole, and in individual asset classes. It also examines the state of the fundraising market going into 2018.
