Redevelopment of former GCHQ base approved

Westminster City Council has approved the redevelopment of a former London base of GCHQ. Located opposite St James’s Park Tube station at 2-14 Palmer Street, SW1, the property was used by the intelligence and security organisation for more than 66 years. GCHQ revealed its use of the building in April after agreeing to sell it to the UK arm of South African real estate business Amdec. Amdec UK will now demolish and replace the current red-brick property with a 46,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme to provide up to 39,921 sq ft of office space, 1,963 sq ft of shops
