Ronson tops out The Heron

The City’s first major residential development in 30 years was topped out on Thursday.

Being developed by Heron International, the 36-floor The Heron, will be completed in 2013. The luxury development, which will also be home to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, features a ground floor restaurant, roof garden, and gym.

Eighty per cent has already been sold off-plan, with 60% being British buyers.

Speaking at the ceremony on top of the tower, Gerald Ronson, chief executive of Heron International, said: “After over 50 years in the property business, I can honestly say that this is one of the buildings that I am most proud of – it has achieved new heights in our ability to deliver the finest quality product.”

He added: “Until now the City has not been able to offer world-class accommodation for the 350,000 people who work here everyday and for the many thousands more who regularly visit it. In fact, there are just 8,500 residences.”

Ronson told EGi that he is on the look out for more development sites in The City and across London. Watch the video for more.
